MY THERAPY
PHILOSOPHY

The foundation of Sara’s career was in humanist therapies, including the work of a man named Carl Rogers (person centred therapy).Sara’s focus is to help you live a fuller life through exploring what you need to help yourself move forward. She does this primarily by providing a caring supportive and nonjudgmental environment listening to your concerns. Together you and Sara plan the course and steps of your therapy, adapting it as needed.

Sara believe that therapy needs to incorporate and connect all parts of yourself: thoughts, emotions and physical/spiritual self.  As a result Sara is trained in a variety of modalities that allow you to talk, create and move your body in order to heal. Sara also believe that learning is a life long process and continue to learn and incorporating new tools and styles of therapy to broaden her practice.

Talk:  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Collaborative Problem Solving

Create/Move: Expressive Arts Therapy, TRE (Tension Releasing Exercises) and therapeutic drumming

TRE® is an innovative natural health tool that was created by Dr. David Berceli while he worked in war torn countries and refugee camps in Europe and Africa over 20 years ago. He saw a need to help people who were being traumatized in situations where traditional therapy was not available or appropriate.  TRE® is a series of seven exercises that allows an individual to access a natural tremor mechanism in the body that allows them to release deep patterns of tension in the body. This shaking or vibrations help calm the nervous system.  Literally, people learn to shake of their stress. This technique is designed as a self help tool so that people can learn TRE® and use it where it fits within their own lives. Most people report after the first session a feeling of relaxation and peace

3 Benefits of TRE®:

  1. TRE® relaxes deep tension patterns held in the body

  2. TRE® assists the body to return to its base line (social engagement – ventral vagal nervous system)

  3. TRE® is self-initiated and can be utilized by everyone

Sara Clark is a clinically trained Master’s level social worker registered in the province of Alberta.
